Nicole MacKay is the managing editor of the SOMM TV Online Magazine, freelance wine writer, consultant, judge, and general enthusiast of everything related to wine, food, and travel. Based in Calgary, Alberta, she’s a Spanish Wine Scholar through the Wine Scholar Guild and holds her level 3 from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

She’s passionate about the stories behind the wine labels and has a passion for helping tell those stories through her writing. She’s detail-focused and has over a decade of wine industry experience working with brands and marketing campaigns on a regional, national, and international level.

She regularly contributes to publications, including VinePair and Wine Enthusiast, and has served on judging panels across Canada.
